Step by step of ISO 9001 conversion/transition

The ISO 9001 standard has now be upgraded to 2015 edition. If your organization are still in 2008 edition, you are given 3 years time for the conversion. The due date for the conversion is September 2018.  Since it has been revised to meet the needs of today’s business world, we recommend that you update your quality management system to fit the market needs.

Here are the ideas of steps for your company to go through for the conversion journey.

Step 1: Familiarize yourself with the new edition of ISO 9001 standard. A correlation matrix, available from ISO/TC 176/SC 2, will help you identify if parts of the standard have been moved to other sections.

Step 2: Identify any organizational gaps which need to be addressed based on new edition

Step 3: Develop an implementation plan for the organization

Step 4: Provide new edition awareness training to all parties that have an impact on the effectiveness
of the organization

Step 5: Update your quality management system to meet the new edition standard

Step 6: Schedule the transition audit with the certification body

Upgrading to ISO 9001:2015 version

ISO 9001:2015  is the latest version that launched since September 2015 to replace the ISO 9001:2008. Many of the existing certified organization is working to upgrade their ISO 9001 system to this latest 2015 version.

ISO organization are given the buffer time that the organization are able to upgrade their ISO 9001 before September 2018. After September 2018, all ISO 9001:2008 version certificate are no longer valid.

The major changes in the new version are the structure. ISO 9001:2015 are follow the same structure as other ISO management system. It is easier for the organization to do the integration with the other ISO system.
